ACADEMIC COOPERATION CONVENTION

(AIDA - MAPFRE STUDIES FOUNDATION)

 

BETWEEN:

 

The International Association for Insurance Law, a non-profit making international association, whose headquarters are located at Calle 54A No 5-19, Bogota, Colombia, hereinafter AIDA; represented by its President, Professor Dr. Carlos Ignacio JARAMILLO J.

 

AND:

 

MAPFRE Studies Foundation, whose headquarters are located at Monte del Pilar, s/n, 28023 El Plantìo (Madrid), C.I.F.: G-78690526, represented by its President D. Filomeno Mira Candel.

 

PREAMBLE

 

Whereas AIDA was founded in Luxembourg on 28th April 1960, and groups more than fifty National Associations and Institutions dedicated to the scientific study of Insurance Law.

 

Whereas AIDA is a non-profit International Association of unlimited duration, established for the purpose of promoting and developing, at an international level, collaboration among its members, as well as increasing the study and knowledge of insurance law and other related matters.

 

Whereas MAPFRE Studies Foundation is a private educational institute, with artificial being, full capacity to act and own patrimony, and that its foundational objective is to contribute, in a disinterested and non-profitable way, to achieve the following purposes:

 

a) Facilitate to people who are interested, to allow them have access to specialized learning in matters related with insurance, with Security in all its fields, and, in general, with companies management.

 

b) Contribute, through the previous purpose, to improve the formation and efficiency level of the companies, the institutions and the people who belong to them, specially in the areas mentioned in the last paragraph.

 

c) Promote the investigation, the spreading and the adaptation to the world of enterprise of the information, the techniques and the knowledge related to the above mentioned matters.

 

Considering that AIDA and MAPFRE Studies Foundation pursue the same objective of promoting the knowledge and the developing of insurance related matters.

 

Consequently, the parties have decided to perform a cooperation agreement, directed to become part of a network of agreements that AIDA wishes to conclude with other academic institutions.

 

ARTICLE 1.

 

AIDA and  MAPFRE Studies Foundation shall regularly inform each other of the research and other scientific activities that they organize.

 

The parties will exchange activities reports and publications.

 

ARTICLE 2.

 

The parties will analyze the possibility of extending this convention to other institutions that pursue similar study and research goals.

 

ARTICLE 3.

 

The parties will analyze the possibility of mutually or separately organizing collective research, seminars and colloquia, which could include joint publications, with other members of the network that is being created.

 

ARTICLE 4.

 

The parties shall examine the possibility of exchanging professors or AIDA members, and will share their experience in the formation field.

 

ARTICLE 5.

 

The present cooperation agreement will be widely diffused by the parties and posted on their websites.

 

ARTICLE 6.

 

The Presidents of AIDA and MAPFRE Studies Foundation will be responsible for the execution of this agreement.
