AIDA PRIZE FOR SCIENTIFIC INVESTIGATION - SPONSORED BY AON
The AIDA Prize for Scientific Investigation, presented on the occasion of the XII World Insurance Congress in Buenos Aires in October 2006, is awarded for excellence of investigatory work, which constitutes an important contribution to the study of international insurance law.
Eight papers of a very high standard were considered by the initial jury of Professors Merkin and Sanchez Calero. Four of these eight papers (two in Spanish and two in English) went forward to the final jury, comprising of Professors Diaz Bravo and Gambino.
The final verdict of the AIDA Prize for Scientific Investigation was announced by the President during the XII AIDA World Congress.
In first place, ex aequo, were the submissions "Marine Insurance Warranties" by Wenhao Han (China) and "Los Corredores de Seguros" by Jose Meña Muñoz (Spain).
Second place was awarded to the submission entitled "Insurable Interest" by Jian Ding (China).
The respective prizes, as well as the recognition plaques, will be presented to the winners at the next AIDA Presidential Council meeting, which will take place in Rome on 24 May 2007.
Aon are thanked for sponsoring the award.
DIAGNOSIS OF STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION OF NATIONAL SECTIONS - FINAL REPORT
Dr Patricia Jaramillo submitted a report on "Diagnosis of Structure and Function of National Sections" as a PowerPoint presentation, on behalf of the President.
The report shows what is happening in AIDA’s National Chapters, and will enable the Presidential Council to take decisions to strengthen AIDA and those chapters which have a particular need.
Thirty-two chapters responded to the initial survey, about 60% of the membership of AIDA.
This report has brought to the attention of the Presidential Council the need to increase the number of active Chapters of AIDA, and also the importance of keeping the existing Chapters in a healthy and well-served state.

The President thanked those Chapters who had contributed to the book for their support. Special thanks were given to the Italian Chapter for sponsoring the project.
